WASHINGTON – Having finished with tight schedule during the visit to U.S, Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto will end his visit tomorrow. Based on the joint statement released by U.S. Department of Defense, the results of the meeting have shown significant progress.
Minister Subianto has expressed the importance of military engagement at all levels, and communicated his appreciation for the United States’ support for Indonesia’s defense modernization particularly the acquisition of F-35 Lightening combat jet to complete the Procurement and Maintenance of Main Equipment and Weapon System of Indonesia or so- called ALUTSISTA (Alat Utama Sistem Pertahanan).
Both leaders seriously intend to enhance bilateral military-to-military activities and work together on maritime security since we have known that Indonesia is the biggest archipelago country in the world whose area is covering two-third of waters. It is very important for Indonesia to secure its waters from infiltration from other countries.
Strong maritime defence will guarantee the sustainable security for Indonesia particulary from unwanted military activities from other countries or stealing marine resources such as fish.
Now, Prabowo will continue his duty byl attending the invitation of The Federal Ministry of Defense of Austria Klaudia Tanner in Vienna, Austria.
